Their cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry tend to be traditional breeds, not modern hybrid's breed for economic reasons. The animals are raised in natural conditions, given spacious grazing areas and natural feeds rather than chemically treated mixes.
Our farmers DO NOT administer any form of growth promoters.
All these safeguards have an important effect on the health of the animals and on the farming environment. They also make a difference to the consumer's health. We have all seen in recent years the disastrous human consequences of poor farming practice, and high standards mean better food. We believe that our meat is among the finest you can buy in Britain today, if you try it once, you'll see the difference.

Great quality 5 I've been buying meat from SJ Smith for years and the quality has never diminished. I had pork chops on the bbq and they were tender and juicy and very tasty. His sausages are so big and thick that I can only manage one and the burgers are great for bbq. Support local, you won't be disappointed.

5 I went to S J Smith yesterday for the first time. The produce is incredible. I bought some free range eggs and some sausages. They taste absolutely amazing. I will be back again very soon and will be buying my meat produce from them from now on. 😁

5 We ordered a turkey crown and ham for Christmas. The staff were all very happy, friendly and helpful. Service was great.
We had a fantastic Christmas dinner, everyone commented on how moist and tasty the turkey was. Thank you.

Mutton, lamb shanks and sausages 5 Ordered mutton, lamb shanks and Cumberland sausages for trip to my daughter.. the mutton made an amazing curry, the lamb shanks were incredible taste and texture the best and the sausages were fantastic as always.. I even cooked them and took them to him in Iceland!!

A-mazing 5 enquired about meat bundles through FB LYDS, and received an instant reply, followed by friendly & welcoming service when I visited the shop! We were extremely satisfied with the meat - much much better than buying your standard supermarket pre-packs!! Totally recommended :)

Top one stop shop 5 S J Smith's butchers is a true pleasure to visit. Each person serving really knows their stuff and is ready with advice and tips on making the most with your meat. True the prices are ever so slightly higher than a supermarket, but the quality is far superior in my opinion. In addition to being able to buy your raw meat, trimmed and prepared as you want it, Smith's also sell cooked meats, home made pies, cheeses, eggs and sauces. They offer BBQ packs of marinated meats, making your life easier. On top of all this they also offer a free local delivery service. So if you're looking to stock up, look no further!

Very happy 5 I called up this morning with my order and then popped in to collect. The guys are always friendly and always smiling. Great butchers. And the meats bloody delicious too. The minted lamb steaks are to die for.

5 I don't eat a lot of meat so when I do it has to be good quality with a great taste and this is what SJ Smith's provide. I was also lucky enough to be at an event where they were the caterers and the burgers were extremely good. The staff are so friendly it is a real pleasure to shop there. There is always a long queue for their top quality Christmas turkeys etc. which is a great recommendation in itself. It is also important for me to know that the animals have been fed well and treated well and that they are not passing on hormones or any other artificial growth promoters. I highly recommend SJ Smith's for great quality produce with a smile.

5 Gr8 service. They'll even cut up the cheese for your lunch! Really lovely quality on all their products. Friday is the best day to go to this traditional butchers...but be early or you'll have to queue!
