This introduces my over 50’s campaign EMPOWERED ELEGANCE: Unveiling the Confidence of Women Over 50 (60, 70 and beyond).
Mrs T was approached to model for an organic skincare brand at the age of 55! Having never modelled before, it was a finger click moment to accept or reject. A devil on one shoulder telling her 'what makes you think you can model at your age? versus an angel on her other shoulder telling her 'you can do whatever your heart desires at any age, so why not?'. In that split second, the desire to listen to the angel rose above the devil. It was the right decision because despite society's expectations and judgement of what 'over a certain age' looks like, dresses like or behaves like, we all look our fabulous age and have the right to live life as we choose. The stereotypical days of what a model should look like no longer rules.
I myself decided to quit my job, after forever thinking I couldn’t leave my secure position and become a full time photographer at the age of 57 but I did and it has been the best and most fulfilling change I have made. For anyone else out there who has a similar story, a passion or dream you followed after the age of 50, I would love to hear from you!!
I will be launching a campaign to photograph 50 women over 50! What I can promise is a fabulous experience, a feeling of empowerment, confidence and one that will make you feel bloody amazing!!! I can say this with confidence as clients provide such fantastic feedback, post their photoshoot. I too have been in front of the camera and loved it!. So I have the benefit of experience from both sides of the camera.
You may think you're not photogenic or why would you need photos at YOUR age? BECAUSE YOU CAN AND BECAUSE WHY NOT? You should celebrate you and what a fabulous way to do it! Whatever your reason, I would love to hear your story and share that with the world. To showcase that women over 50 are worthy, relevant, confident, badass, intelligent, beautiful, funny, stylish and I could go on! What matters is that the world sees us, recognises us, accepts us and appreciates us for who we are. What better way to showcase you joining my 50 over 50 campaign!
