Barrowell Green Recycling Centre to temporarily close

●Barrowell Green Recycling Centre to temporarily close for essential resurfacing works
●Residents advised to use Enfield-Edmonton EcoPark while the centre is closed
●Over 150 different items can be brought to Enfield-Edmonton Eco Park for household recycling.

From Saturday 13 September to Tuesday 30 September inclusive, Barrowell Green Recycling Centre in Enfield will be closed for essential resurfacing work.

The site surface at Barrowell Green is in poor condition, and damaged concrete and uneven surfaces from continuous use is affecting drainage systems.

The centre will re-open again on Wednesday 1 October at 8am.

Residents will not be able to book a slot to visit Barrowell Green on Enfield Council website to dispose of their waste while the centre is closed, but are advised to visit the North London Waste Authority’s (NLWA) reuse and recycling centre at Enfield-Edmonton EcoPark.

Cabinet Member for Transport and Waste at Enfield Council, Cllr Rick Jewell, said: “I am pleased the Council is investing in Barrowell Green Recycling Centre.

“The centre is in need of essential resurfacing work so it can operate safely, and there is no better time to carry out the work than in September, where historically visitor numbers are lower than other months of the year.

“While Barrowell Green is closed, I would advise residents to dispose of their household waste at the Enfield-Edmonton EcoPark or book a free doorstep bulky waste collection on the Council’s website.

“We know that a greener, cleaner Enfield is a top priority for residents. We will take the strongest possible action against anyone who dumps their rubbish on our streets.”

Pedestrians and cyclists are welcome on site at Enfield-Edmonton Eco Park with drop-off zones for recycling that are segregated from car and van users.

Residents who wish to dispose of their household waste at the site using a van or trailer, are advised to book in advance using NLWA’s online van booking system.

Over 150 different items can be brought to the site including household recycling, large and small electrical appliances and garden waste, which is open seven days a week (including bank holidays) from 8am to 8pm.

The Council offers a free bulky waste collection service for all residents in the borough. To request a doorstep collection visit: https://www.enfield.gov.uk/.../rubbish-and.../bulky-rubbish
